Why With Our Wisdom
Because you already carry more wisdom than you may realise
hWith Our Wisdom (WOW) evolved from my work as a therapist, supporting people on their healing journeys and listening to their stories. It grew from a simple but profound understanding: you are not something that needs to be fixed.
Your experiences, your body, your emotions, your relationships and the ways you have learned to protect yourself all carry information. Together, they shape how you think, feel and behave, as well as the unconscious responses and patterns that can influence how you experience yourself and the world around you.
Over time, it became increasingly clear to me that clients hold an innate wisdom and a capacity to heal, grow and reconnect with who they truly are.
Healing can unfold when you feel safely seen, supported and able to reconnect with
your own mind-body wisdom.
My role is not to tell you who you are or what you should become; I aim to create a safe, compassionate space, where we can work alongside each other, allowing you to slow down, reconnect with yourself and gently move towards greater wellbeing, with authenticity and wholeness.
This can give you the space to listen more deeply and begin to understand what your body, mind and emotions may be communicating.
My work brings together psychotherapy, nervous-system awareness, therapeutic touch, compassionate presence and mind – body centred approaches to support healing, resilience, and personal growth.
I have grown and evolved into this work—
one experience at a time, for over thirty years.
Amanda Watson
Psychotactile Psychotherapist
How This Work Began
Over 30 years ago, as a newly qualified aromatherapist and massage therapist, I started out thinking I was there to fix and that I was just helping the body. The aches and pains would ease, clients left feeling better, however I began noticing recurring patterns. With this, I realised the body is more than muscles and bones, it carries more than physical tension, as it carries our history, which too lives in our body. With my work and further studies, I continued to develop my understanding. Psychotactile psychotherapy brought everything together.
The Body Tells The Truth
As I worked with people through massage, deeper things began to surface. Old pain. Childhood memories. Relationship struggles. The body, when it feels safe enough, can tell us things that we simply didn’t have the words for. Sensations, emotions, memories and patterns can emerge when someone feels sufficiently safe and supported. I realised I needed to be able to meet people there — not just in their physical body, but in their whole self.
My Professional Development
More than 30 years of learning has taken me across bodywork, psychotherapy, mindfulness, trauma-informed practice and approaches to emotional and nervous-system wellbeing.
Each stage has added another piece to my understanding of how we experience ourselves as whole people.
No Hands Massage was another important part of that journey, bringing together much of what I had been learning about body, mind, emotion, energy, spirit and relationship — all held safely and collaboratively, with the client as the expert in their own life (Click the button for details of specific training & qualifications)
What I Have Come to Know
With decades of learning, training and working alongside people from very different backgrounds and life experiences, one of the greatest lessons has been recognising that there is rarely only one way of understanding something.
We each see the world through the lens of our own experiences. I bring my professional knowledge, experience and curiosity — while recognising that you are the expert in your own life.
Humility & Openness
Life has became one of my greatest teachers and I understand how important it is to meet people where they are at.
I worked with young people excluded from mainstream schools, labelled ‘difficult’ or ‘naughty’, whose behaviour made complete sense once you knew their stories.
I supported families navigating domestic violence and trauma.
I became a mother of 2 amazing young people, 1 of whom has a disability and this introduced me to the world of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
I learned that connection, love, advocacy, and patience are their own kind of therapy.
Bringing It All Together
When COVID stopped massage therapists from working, I used the time to complete a four-year training in Psychotactile Psychotherapy — the natural culmination of everything. Now, when a client’s body releases something it has been holding for years, I can be fully there with them.
Not to fix, but to work collaboratively, helping my clients find their way home to whom they truly are.
VALUES
Safety
Before anything else can shift it’s important you feel physically and emotionally safe, respected in your boundaries; and able to move at your own pace.
Empowerment
I don’t take power from you by trying to ‘fix you’. Instead, I support you to discover your capacity and resources, to discover and trust your own power, your own knowing, your own truth.
Wholeness
I hold space for you as a whole person; body, mind, emotion, energy, spirit and the way these are intrinsically integrated.
Compassion
I aim to offer non-judgmental space for you when we meet, where whatever you carry, however you arrive is met with care and curiosity.
Authenticity
You don’t need to become someone else. The work is about reconnecting with the power and truth of who you really are so that you can take charge and shape your reality.
Perhaps this is the kind of support you’ve been looking for.
You don’t need to know exactly what you need, before getting in touch.
Sometimes the first step is simply having a conversation and seeing whether this approach feels right for you.
